Module 1 - Basics of Tissue Engineering
In this module, we will be covering the basics of tissue engineering. We will go over what tissue engineering is, what professions make up tissue engineers, why tissue engineering is important, and what has been accomplished by tissue engineering.
Module 2 - Process of Tissue Engineering
In this module, you will learn the general process of tissue engineering. We will discuss everything from where the need for tissue engineering arises from, to the different types of stimuli used on tissue-engineered products. We will also go over the different cell types and processes that the cells undergo to provide a foundation for the rest of the course.
Module 3 - Aspects to Consider in Clinical Application
Clinical application of tissue engineering is a very regulated and complex process. Accurate and verifiable knowledge is required to account for patient safety. In this module, we are going to discuss some of the most important aspects to consider in a clinical environment.
Module 4 - Intro to a Tissue Engineering Lab
Explore a real Skeletal Tissue Engineering Laboratory at the University of Michigan
Module 5 - The Skeletal Muscle Unit
This module will explain how Dr. Lisa Larkin at the University of Michigan uses a novel tissue engineering technology to grow muscle in her laboratory.
Module 6 - Inside the Bioreactor
Module 6 will contain a basic overview on the bioreactor. It will detail how a bioreactor creates a microenvironment to cultivate cell and tissue growth. It will show what parameters a bioreactor controls and the general workings.
